The essential thing is you

Here is my card

For my card I have used the stamp and Die set from Tim Holtz, Holiday Joy. The main images I stamped onto cream card and cut out with the dies. To create the background scene I have used papers from First Edition and white paper to create the snow which i have added promarker and sakura pen to. I added extra snowflakes to the background and embossed with clear powder. To finish off I added a co-ordinating ribbon.

I have used Merry Christmas

I have used the  Merry Christmas image

which i coloured with promarkers and dusted with my brushes and distress ink. I then cut the image out and mounted it onto a die cut tag embossed with snowflakes.

I used my brushes and inks again and added gems to the snowflakes and finished off with a crushed silk ribbon .

Altered Eclectic first challenge

Hi folks this is the first of a marathon blogging session.

Mentioning the first, it is the first challenge from Altered Eclectic

we are going to run monthly on the 1st of every month

Elaine wanted a blog that was for altered art but anything would go, especially when projects can take so long and then they don't fit a challenge.

Please remember It is not to include

cards,ATC's or layouts but anything else will fit.

For our first post Elaine wanted us to make something which reflects us so I decided to alter a book.

The title is

"Never judge a book by its cover"

     I used a reader's digest book that I got from the amenity site

I gutted it down and stuck the pages together with PVA , to give myself working pages.

To produce the cover I used Plenty kitchen towel and stuck it on with PVA. I let it dry overnight then painted it with Gesso I then let that dry, once I had a workable surface I mixed gesso and acrylic paint until I was happy with the colour. Again it was drying time, when I was eventually happy I added gilding wax , the flowers  and book plate. So there you have my book.

I then went on to paint and fill 3 sets of pages,
Its the first time I have done something like this but I really enjoyed it. The first pages are coloured with my favourite Tim Holtz  colours paints . I have included stamps , words stamps, my own thoughts, charm etc

These pages again include distress stains, stamps,charms wooden butterflies,pearls, my thoughts and sayings about butterflies.

These include my loves in life, my cats and tractors!!!!

yes I know I am mad. But they are the work horses of life, sometimes I feel I am a tractor lol. This page includes stamps and charms coloured with distress stains.

For the Men in your Life

Hi yes its that time again its the Creative Card Crew 


new challenge and the theme for this challenge is Masculine and our sponsor for this challenge is

       They give a $15 to spend on items throughout their store.

I decide to make a clock. I used the cog mdf base which I bought from Indigo Blu. 

I used white Gesso which the Scrapping Center stock and painted the base on the back and front, when the first layer was dry I applied another but this time I stamped it with medium bubble wrap while it was damp and this removes some of the paint. I let it dry overnight I then used an assortment of acrylic paints to distress the clock with a nearly dry stencil brush gold and green so it took on a verdigris look. Check out the site for their paint stock. Once it was dry I used a CD to draw around the center of the clock. This helps you position your numbers for the clock. the cog has actually 60 teeth so once you have marked 12,3,6 and 9 you can the work out where to stamp the other numbers.

Once I had stamped the numbers I then used and assortment of Tim Holtz stamps (Check out the site) , Indigo Blu and my Visible Image  stamps to create cogs and messages   within the spare area. Don't forget to rub away the pencil circle .

Here is the finished working clock with its clock mechanism added.

I made it for my mum's partner ( they aren't married so he isn't really my Step-Dad)

A little bit of altered art

Decided i needed some of my own art work on the walls , so after making a card very similar I decided to make a canvas. I used terracota paint distressed inks , Tim Holtz bird cage die which is embossed and inked. All in all I am pleased with the outcome.
